Dr David Brockwell

Dr David Brockwell’s research interests focus on the application of single molecule techniques (fluorescence and force), together with other biophysical methods.

These techniques can elucidate how Nature exploits mechanical force, protein structure, cooperativity and dynamics to carry out cellular function.

He recently exploited the synergy between experiment and simulation to rationally engineer the mechanical properties of a protein.

Of particular relevance here, he has developed and applied dynamic force spectroscopy using the AFM to characterise the behaviour of protein complexes under force.
